Every year as the colder weather kicks in we stress to you the importance of car maintenance and preparing your car for any dangerous conditions the road might throw at you.
Wet weather, slippery roads, ice, frost, limited vision – there are a number of factors that can impinge on your driving during winter.
One of the biggest issues when driving during winter is early morning frost as those of us who are not lucky enough to park the car in a garage often discover.

There are some simple steps you can take in the morning to help you set off on the road with a frost-free windscreen.

Get a bucket of cold water to wash your windscreen before getting into the car to remove any ice.

Turn the demister on full ensuring the fan is up high.
|
| • |
Ensure the air conditioner is on, as this will create drier air making the windows defrost faster.
|
| • |
The temperature of the demister will not make a difference to the speed of defrosting as long as the air conditioner is on.
|
| • |
Always ensure the back window demister is on.
|
| • |
Do not attempt to put down electric windows when they are wet as this could cause problems with the internal electronics.
|
If in doubt always ensure enough time to wait for the windows to defrost before you take to the road this winter.
